Lesson – Mindset

“A goal is often accompanied by a sense of purpose, determination, and a vision for the future. It serves as a guiding light, motivating individuals to strive for something meaningful and significant. However, the journey towards achieving a goal is rarely a straight path; obstacles, challenges, and unforeseen circumstances often emerge, creating a dynamic and sometimes difficult process.”

My obstacle was it was raining on Tuesday which is the day I plan to play pickleball and practice tennis. I have to remind myself to stay positive, don’t quit, keep on going. I have to keep focus on my time where I can get lost in busy work such as going thru my emails or watching videos to get ideas for what I want to do. 

My mindset is 

  • To stay focused on the goal.
  • To stay positive.
  • To be open-minded to changing situations.

Reflecting on what worked and what didn’t.

My goal is to get everything done on time and correctly, however, I must push myself to be better every single day. I must understand to look pass what didn’t work and keep my focused on the future.

Recovery after a workout is crucial for optimizing performance, preventing injuries, and promoting overall well-being. 

Cool Down

Rehydrating 

Nutrition by eating a mix of carbohydrates, protein, and healthy fats. 

For example eating a banana and drinking a protein shake.

Rest and sleeping It’s trial and error to figure out what your body works best at. Many people recommend 6 to 8 hours but not everyone needs it or might need more sleep.

Active Recovery

Such as doing light versions of biking, walking, or stretching.

Stretching

Incorporate static or dynamic stretching into your routine to improve flexibility and reduce muscle tension.

Foam Rolling to massage sore or tight muscles 

Ice Bath or sauna 

Listen to Your Body

Pay attention to how your body feels. If you’re feeling particularly fatigued or sore, it’s okay to adjust your workout intensity or take an extra rest day.

1. Starting a fitness journey can be intimidating, but take it one step at a time. This will make you feel better and help you realize that you had nothing to worry about.

2. Ask yourself why you want to go to the gym and make sure your motivation is healthy and realistic.

3. Try out different gyms to find the right one for you, and consider starting your workout program with the help of a personal trainer or instructor. Ask your friends that go to the gym often for help.

4. Eat protein before or after your workout to maximize the benefits of your exercise.

5. Bring a water bottle and consider bringing headphones to the gym, but be aware of the noise you’re making and avoid disturbing others.

6. Wear comfortable and functional clothing and footwear that support your workout activities.

7. Start your workout program gradually and progressively, and listen to your body to avoid overtraining or injury.

8. Stay hydrated and refuel your body with protein and carbohydrates after your workout to help your muscles recover and grow.

9. Take advantage of the community at the gym and make connections with other people who are on a similar fitness journey.

10. Remember that a fitness journey is a lifestyle change and a marathon, not a sprint. Be patient, consistent, don’t be afraid to seek help and advice when needed.
